Academic Advising Practice: Is it worth it?
The Department of English Language & Literature will be conducting a National Symposium on November 21st & 22nd, 2017, at Rustaq College of Education, Sultanate of Oman.
A symposium on Academic Advising will be held in the College on November 21, 2017. This symposium will pave the way for better advising practices with a view to helping learners to improve their academic performance.
The theme of the symposium will be ‘Academic Advising Practice: Is it worth it?’ Research papers, posters and presentations addressing aspects or dimensions of this theme are welcome. Given the interdisciplinary nature and fast-evolving status of Oman’s higher education system, this symposium will explore how Academic Advising is applied in all of the Sultanate’s HEIs, in general, and at CAS, in particular. The symposium aims to generate suggestions and insights for the development of Academic Advising as a way to enhance students’ performance.
Proposals for presentations and symposiums are invited on any of the following areas:
Students academic needs
Teaching language skills
The student-friendly classroom
Teaching language skills to low achievers
Academic Advice Counseling
Critical thinking classroom
Cultural issues in ELT
Presentations can be delivered in English or Arabic
Symposium dates The 21st to the 22nd of November 2017
Proposals submission deadline – 20th September 2017
Replies will be sent out by the 1th October 2017
